What is Esthetics?
Esthetics (es-THET-iks) is a career in which you can grow, thrive, and make a difference in the lives of others every day. Derived from the Greek word “aesthetikos” meaning “perceptible to the senses”, the word esthetics is a branch of anatomical science that deals with the overall health and well-being of the skin.
Estheticians provide preventive care for the skin and offer treatments to keep the skin healthy and attractive. Over the past few decades, esthetics has evolved from a minor beauty industry into a specialized field of services that offering full-service salon, day spas, and wellness centers.
Career opportunities are available in many different medical settings, where you as an esthetician can perform services ranging from working with pre-and post-operative patients to manage a skincare department in a medical spa.
